CONCLUSIONS Local anaesthetic inguinal hernia repair can be performed safely by surgical trainees under consultant supervisionwith minimal short- and long-term morbidity. A large volume dilute solution of Lignocaine and Marcaine is recommendedwhen hernia repair is undertaken by trainees.
